Ardmore Shipping’s Gernot Ruppelt appointed chair of INTERTANKO’s Worldscale & Markets Committee

Gernot Ruppelt, Ardmore’s CCO, has recently been appointed as chairman of INTERTANKO’s Worldscale & Markets Committee.

The Worldscale & Markets Committee provides liaison and strategic dialogue with members and with tanker industry partners with the purpose of driving shared goals of commercial sustainability and transparency, and for ethical practice and industry progress; further to maintain an open and positive communication with the Worldscale Association.

Gernot’s position was ratified at the committee meeting held in July 2018.  Commenting on his new role, Gernot said: “I’m honoured by the appointment and look forward to building on the successes of the committee so far. I will be working in close partnership with my fellow committee members and INTERTANKO staff to drive for further progress, including evolving the objectives of the committee in line with the changed market environment.”

Gernot recently joined a panel of industry experts during INTERTANKO’s annual Tanker Summit, which took place between 18-22 June in Rome. The panel, titled ‘The Demand for Energy Transported by Sea’, explored predictions and scenarios surrounding the future demand and supply of liquid energy.
