Ardmore takes on the Maritime Mountain Race in support of seafarers

At Ardmore, we recognize that the strength of our industry lies not only in the vessels we operate, but in the people who make global trade possible every day. Seafarers spend long periods away from home, often working in demanding and isolated conditions, yet their contribution remains essential and, at times, unseen.

This June, a team of Ardmore colleagues, Jack Ryan, Abhijit Ghosh, and Kayla Davenport, will be taking part in the Maritime Mountain Race, a fundraising challenge in the Swiss mountains, dedicated to supporting the invaluable work of The Mission to Seafarers, who provide care, connection, and practical support to seafarers and their families around the world.  

For many across the maritime community, the work of The Mission to Seafarers is deeply personal. Whether it’s a welcoming space in port, access to wellbeing services, or simply a moment of kindness far from home, these small but meaningful gestures can have a lasting impact on those at sea.

The Maritime Mountain Race brings the industry together around a shared purpose. Teams commit to a physical challenge (training, climbing and pushing their limits), but the real impact comes from the funds raised. Those contributions go directly to charities that support seafarers’ welfare, helping to ensure that those working at sea are supported not only professionally, but personally.

For Ardmore, this initiative reflects a broader commitment to seafarer wellbeing. Supporting our crews goes beyond operations, recognizing the realities of life at sea and contributing to a wider network of support that exists both onboard and ashore. It also aligns with our ongoing focus on building a culture that values connection, respect, and care across the maritime community.      

While our team prepares for the challenge ahead, the success of this effort ultimately depends on the support of the wider network around us.
