Performance through sustainability: Ardmore publishes its 2025 Sustainability Report
Back to newsArdmore Shipping has published its 2025 Sustainability Report, highlighting another year of measurable progress across its sustainability priorities, demonstrating how continued investment in innovation, operational excellence and its people continues to deliver tangible environmental, operational and commercial results.

The report reinforces Ardmore’s long-held belief that performance and progress are inseparable. Throughout 2025, the company continued to invest in technologies, operational improvements and people-focused initiatives that strengthen commercial performance while reducing environmental impact and supporting the highest standards of safety and governance.
“Our energy efficiency upgrades remain the cornerstone of our sustainability strategy,” said Gernot Ruppelt, CEO, and Bart Kelleher, President, Ardmore Shipping. “The full implementation of FuelEU Maritime marked a step-change in the regulatory environment, but our long-standing commitment to operational efficiency means we are well ahead of the compliance curve. We believe companies that have invested consistently in this area will be best positioned to create value as regulations continue to evolve.”
The report demonstrates how Ardmore’s continuous investment in proven technologies is delivering meaningful environmental and operational benefits across the fleet. Among the year’s milestones, Ardmore completed MarineLine cargo tank coating upgrades across its chemical tanker fleet, improving cargo flexibility while reducing tank cleaning requirements, chemical and water consumption, and turnaround times. The upgraded coating also enables the safe carriage of biofuel feedstocks, renewable fuels and methanol, supporting the industry’s wider energy transition.
The company also continued expanding its use of AI and digital technologies through its partnership with DeepSea, including the rollout of the Neuro hardware platform, enabling increasingly precise voyage optimization, weather routing and fuel management.
These initiatives, combined with ongoing investments in hull performance optimization, Mewis Ducts, SteelCorr hull protection and advanced cleaning programs, contributed to a 14% reduction in fleet emissions during 2025, equivalent to more than 60,000 tons of CO2 compared with the previous year.
On the safety side, Ardmore recorded zero vessel detentions during 2025, while 81% of Port State Control inspections resulted in zero findings. Three vessels also achieved an exceptional milestone of ten consecutive years without a lost time injury.
The report also highlights continued investment in crew welfare and professional development. Ardmore expanded its WAVES initiative, increasing the number of women officers across the fleet by 56% year on year, while strengthening mentoring, training and ship-to-shore engagement. In 2025, Ardmore reached a notable milestone: every member of its shore-based team has now visited an Ardmore vessel, deepening the connection between office and seagoing colleagues.
Beyond its own fleet, Ardmore continued supporting the wider seafaring community through its partnership with The Mission to Seafarers, alongside initiatives including the Ardmore Bursary Cadet Program and the rollout of hydroponic growing systems onboard vessels to enhance crew well-being.
Ardmore continued its focus on robust governance and ethical leadership in 2025 and was once again ranked the number one publicly traded tanker company in the Webber Corporate Governance Scorecard, reflecting its commitment to transparency, accountability and responsible decision making.
Alongside continued investment in cybersecurity, risk management and business ethics, the report also outlines how Ardmore’s governance framework supports long-term value creation while maintaining the trust of customers, investors, employees and other stakeholders.
