Ardmore COO Mark Cameron joins panel at GST Conference
Back to newsMark Cameron, COO of Ardmore Shipping, participated in an industry roundtable at the 13th Annual Green Ship Technology conference (GST) held from 15-18th of March in Copenhagen.
Entitled ‘Preparing for the unknown: what pressures will the industry be under in the next 10-20 years?’, Mark Cameron joined the roundtable moderated by VDR – German Shipowners’ Association’s Managing Director, Martin Kroeger.
The discussion covered a wide range of topical issues, including how public opinion and political pressure impact on shipping, how technology will change the way that business is conducted and can improve business decisions, and whether the fluctuations in fuel prices have impacted upon technological innovation and investment.
The session also addressed the importance of IMO-level enforcement of regulation the importance of the IMO moving swiftly to keep up with regulatory changes and the practicalities of policing compliance outside port waters.
Mark spoke about the need to treat seafarer as professionals, noting the high priority that Ardmore places on empowering their seastaff and providing good working conditions and fulfilling careers at sea, commenting that “our seafarers are professionals and true champions of the industry that deserve to be respected,”
