Ardmore’s Technical Manager Garry Noonan, presented at this year’s 15th Vessel Efficiency & Fuel Management Summit.
The event, which took place last week in London, brought together key industry stakeholders concerned with the main challenges facing the industry, including the changing regulatory environment as well as the new and existing technologies that are enabling owners and operators to reduce operational costs and optimise efficiencies.
Given Ardmore’s position as a leading owner and operator of mid-size product and chemical tanker vessels, Garry’s presentation focused on Ardmore’s approach to vessel performance voyage optimisation.
During his presentation, Garry explored several issues relating to this topic, including how technology can be utilised to optimise voyage efficiency and the role of weather routing tools, as well as the opportunities presented through voyage data collection and analysis.
Garry concluded by reminding the audience that despite technological advances, ultimately it is the crew that remains crucial to ensuring the safe operation of vessels. It is their skills, married with knowledge, proactivity and a commitment to safety that ensures safe, compliant and efficient sailing.
